I was asked if I could make a card for a gentleman who is turning 50 at the end of this month…. yes that’s right he was born on a leap year!!! The gentleman’s nephew thinks it is pretty funny that his Uncle is only 12½ years old (hehe!)…. so I had to incorporate that somehow into a card etc.
My brain was in overload for this one….. I wanted to do something ‘nice’ and ‘normal’ and have the gag being ‘hidden’…. so this is what I came up with. A card using the Stampin’ Up! retired Designer Paper Parisian Breeze (from the Spring 09 Mini), a matching covered paper mache box with an oversize badge (both available at local craft suppliers). The badge idea came from kids birthday cards that say ‘5 today’ etc…. so I made a 12½ today type of badge.
A friend asked me to make her a card for a 40th Birthday she was attending. The criteria….. chocolates, pink (ok, good so far ~ my fav colour combo!), bling, modern, but perhaps a vintage look… WOW!!
Well, this is what I came up with ~ what do you think, does it fit the criteria?

I used Designer Series Paper ‘Raspberry Tart’, matching cardstock Rose Red & Cameo Coral. I have used the Baroque Background stamp for the feature stamped with ‘Birthday Wishes’ using the Basic Phrases Stamp Set. The ‘bling’ is from my personal stash, but you could use Rhinestone Brads also.
Thanks for looking.
Here are some fun little containers that can be used for almost any ocassion….. birthday loot bags, fill it with chocolates, trinkets, lollies. How about using Christmas Designer Papers for a little Christmas gift, Easter, Valentines and much more.
Change the shape and size by using a different size of paper! They are so much fun and very simple!
The hostess from my last workshop received the large pink one below ‘To you from Me’ filled with Stampin’ Up! Ribbons, Brads, Buttons and a mini stamp!
