With all the excitement of the new catalogue, I thought it would be great to get some creative minds together and invited my customers to a launch party on 27 August 2010.  Thank you to everyone who came on the night, and to others who ordered a ‘Party in a Bag’.

I greeted everyone with a glass of champagne and some nibbles to get the night started…….. can you see the little name tags on the champagne glasses.   I used the flag from the new stamp set ‘Party this Way’ pg. 35.

I also had some samples on display, my version of flowers in a tea cup on page 85 of the catalogue.   Made using the scallop circle as the back of the flower, and a further 1 ½ scallop circles cut at each 2nd scallop (ie. like a heart shape), fold in half and glue onto the flat scallop circle.  Sponge over the top in the coordinating ink, add a contrast colour for the centre of the flower to cover the glue.

Oh….and did I mention that I tortured everyone by sealing my catalogue and marking TOP SECRET….ha-ha, they had to wait until they had made their make and takes!!! *insert evil laugh*

We had plenty of raffles and give-aways on the night, I’m pretty sure everyone walked away with at least one prize!!!  And everyone who attended received a Party Bag (as well as those who ordered a ‘party in a bag’) which included the New Catalogue (OF COURSE!), cardstock samples, designer series paper samples, rubber stamp and lots of other goodies!!

I had a great night with fellow crafters!!   Watch out for posts featuring the ‘make and take’ projects and other samples from the new catalogue.

Well, what a busy month I have had….. I attended the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Sydney on 21-22 May 2010.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself and look forward to next year’s Convention in Melbourne!

Leading up to Convention I was busy making 100 swaps (card fronts of the same design) to swap with other Demonstrators, a great way to get ideas!!  I met many lovely Demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand and it was nice to put a face to a name.   I will upload a photo of my swap design soon…..I managed to loose my camera whilst at convention (oh dear!!) so will have to manage without it until I can get another.

We had some dramas with out Hotel on Thursday night, two fire evacuations at 1am and 3am, needless to say there were plenty of Demonstrators who didn’t manage much sleep that night.  Quite funny to see us all standing out in the street freezing in our PJ’s with our swaps in hand….my thinking was I can replace my clothes but I can’t replace my swaps!!!  Luckily the alarms were false alarms and our Hotel was not on fire, unluckily for the hotel they had a bunch of women who were NOT HAPPY!!!  (did I mention we were on the 10th floor and had to go down the stairs twice and up 10 levels of stairs once!)

Convention was fantastic though, and Saturday was the highlight for me.  The banquet dinner Saturday night was thoroughly enjoyable with great food, company and a fantastic presentation evening with many demonstrators being recognised for their efforts.   I wonder if I will be on that stage collecting an award one day……….

Have a great day, when I get hold of some photos I will share them with you.

Thanks

Michelle
